The students of the last grade are studying a period in Physiology. During these weeks we have been learning about how different systems in our organism work and the relation between them.
We have paid special attention to our metabolic system, understanding not only how food is transformed by our organism into energy but the importance of the quality of the food we eat. What are and how they work the different substances from food that our body needs like proteins, carbohydrates, fats, mineral salts and vitamins.
We have learnt to understand the different types of farming (natural, transgenic, organic biodynamics,…). We have also learnt to read a food label and to differentiate the additives like colorants, preservatives, flavour enhancers, stabilisers, antioxidants,..
Our sensory organism (nerve system) is fed on perceptions, our rhythmic organism (circulatory and respiratory system) is fed on oxygen and sunlight and our metabolic system is fed on food, and we all know that being fed is not the same as being nourished.
