FUNDACIÓN SA LLAVOR IN THE “BINISSALEM CIUDAD EDUCADORA” PROJECT

The Sa Llavor Foundation is very happy to announce that we have joined the support committee of the Binissalem "Ciudad Educadora" project. For this reason, we are going to take part in some of the activities that will be held over the next few weeks to commemorate the Universal Day of the Rights of the Child (20 November), the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November), and the International Day of the Educating City (30 November), as part of the programme of events to be held in Binissalem as an Educating City.   But what does the "Ciudad Educadora" project consist of? This project stems from the International Association of Educating Cities (IAEC), which the municipality of Binissalem joined in 2016. The mission of this organisation is for education to become a tool for social transformation through four fundamental axes: The population should be able to enjoy lifelong learning in all areas of daily life. That diversity and inclusion be guiding values in each of the educational actions carried out, recognising the great wealth that these values bring to the community. Citizen participation is promoted, involving the community in education-related decision-making, and generating a network of collaboration between all the agents and sectors involved to improve the quality of education. To encourage sustainable development by promoting educational practices that take into account respect for the environment and social responsibility.   This project strengthens the community's ties of union with an educational purpose that aims to be implemented in all spheres of life; objectives that are perfectly in line with the educational principles of the Sa Llavor Foundation. And we are particularly excited to be able to participate in a community project of such magnitude, because our original impulse, as an educational community, also tends towards that social transformation that can only be carried out hand in hand with the educational processes of teaching-learning.   With great gratitude for being able to collaborate in this beautiful local and international initiative, we hope to nurture with flourishing seeds this space for meeting, dialogue and action that is unfolding before us, so that integral qualitative education becomes a basic right of all human beings and the engine of transformation towards a more harmonious, respectful, co-responsible, supportive, peaceful, loving and more connected to life society.   AGENDA OF ACTIVITIES OF BINISSALEM EDUCATING CITY. As part of the commemoration of the World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women:   - Wednesday 22 November: 19h. Dramatised reading of texts by authors who write about the implications of being a woman, by Magdalena Sbert. At the Sa Llavor Foundation. THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare

"Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep." The Tempest. W. Shakespeare. Act IV. Scene 1.   Every year, since the Fundació Sa Llavor began its path in 2007, the Educational Learning Community experiences a complete process of theatrical creation. Through work groups on writing texts, set design, eurythmy, speech art, construction, carving, costumes, music and manuals, we work together to create and develop all the elements that make up a play. As an integral, participatory, lively and creative process, it allows to grow in tolerance, respect and trust, offering a space for communication and artistic expression, educating the will, free thought, sensitivity and the power of imagination. This school year we have been able to experience the magic of The Tempest intertwined with the tragic love story of Dido and Aeneas.

CROSSINGS 2022-23

CROSSING: FROM SÓLLER TO TOSSALS VERDS On Wednesday May 31 we left Binissalem for Palma by train. There we take the old wooden train to Sóller that leaves us at the beginning of the journey: Biniaraix. Following the winding path that runs through the ravine, we begin the ascent accompanied by the wonderful landscape, the sun and the waterfalls. Everything was going well until suddenly it started to rain. We cover a tree with a tarp, take shelter and decide to eat. In the afternoon we continue along the path and get wet twice more until we reach the top, next to Puig de l'Ofre. We find a place to spend the night and spread out wet things to dry. We spent the night under the stars. The next day we headed towards the Font des Noguer to fill our water bottles. We have the will to start the path again, with almost all our clothes dry, but an intense storm crosses our path. It rains so hard that, even under the tarpaulin, everything we carry gets wet. So we decided it's time to go home. However, although the entire journey could not be completed, it has been a great experience of courage, resilience and improvement for everyone.       CROSSING: CAMÍ DE CAVALLS - MENORCA The crossing to the neighboring island of Menorca was made following the old Camí de Cavalls and the bicycles being our steeds. The path was generous, since nature in its multiple manifestations gave us storms, skies and seas of infinite colors, solitary coves that offered their waters for a refreshing and restorative bath, and a bush of stars under which to rest and dream in peace. Honoring its name and tradition with the school, this was also a demanding journey that put us all to the test; face our own difficulties, expand the limits of our physical and mental resistance, allow emotion at the farewells of colleagues who embarked on new paths. Together, we have contributed to one of those experiences that leave a mark and allow us to confidently cross the threshold that precedes and gives way to the next vital stages. It is an honor to have been able to accompany this group of young people and grateful for this wonderful experience.
