ART, SCIENCE AND SPIRITUALITY

A R T I S T I C   W O R K S H O P   2 0 2 2 First Cycle of Artistic and Healer Processes Escuela Cultura, transformative and active impulse of the Sa Llavor Foundation, in collaboration with Visionary Woman Art Research Group, presents in January 2022 a new cycle of Artistic Workshop with theoretical-practical work sessions for adults, which reconnect with the essence of art and live the artistic process as a journey into the unknown where intuiting and imagining gives us inspiration and deep learning on a personal and social level.   7 meetings // 7 Sundays January 30 to March 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sa Llavor Foundation. Mallorca   Created and designed by: Escuela Cultura - Fundació Sa Llavor, Mallorca   Talk-Workshop   Introduction In this First Cycle of Artistic and Healing Processes, we are going to explore the relationship between Art, Science and Spirituality in constellation with the works of Hilma af Klint and Emma Kunz. We open a space for experimentation, creation and critical thinking through artistic practices, scientific experiments created at the beginning of the 20th century, Goethean observation, movement and words. This space of seven sessions of four hours each, is led by specialists in one or more of the proposed topics, with the intention of opening doors to liminal spaces. The artistic processes carried out by the participants are visualized and taken into an exhibition format.   Hilma af Klint and Emma Kunz Researchers and artists, Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) and Emma Kunz (1892-1963), explored the supersensible world through art and science, predicting that their work would be understood and useful for future generations. The incredible popularity of his works today confirms the relevance of graphic research and the holistic view of the human being. His creations present us with an opportunity to discover the mysteries of life and a two-way purpose to return to unity.   Program Art, Science and Spirituality An approach to esoteric cartography by the artists Hilma af Klint and Emma Kunz We offer a space for individual and collective experimentation, creation and critical thinking, through artistic practices, scientific experiments from the beginning of the 20th century, Goethean observation, movement and words.   Day 1 // January 30 // The 4 Directions: Create an orientation map in the 4 directions to build the foundation of the artistic and healing process. We will use clay modeling to create pure forms that visualize the formative forces, inspired by the platonic solids and the direction plate and pendulum that Emma Kunz used to perceive the laws of Nature and spiritual connections.   Day 2 // February 6 // Contemplation: Cultivate the art of contemplation to capture the essence of the forms of Nature and capture them through painting. WINTER

The winter solstice commemorates the birth of light. Soon we will live the darkest day of the year but also, little by little, we will see how the days are lengthening, gaining more hours at night and darkness. Let all this light fill our hearts and let us surrender to the most special and endearing meaning of the winter solstice: sharing with others, gathering together, renewing ourselves. It is time to sow. Imagine that we are a fertile field waiting to receive a lot of new things that will take root in us, growing towards the sky, towards the stars, making us shine.

WATERCOLOR

Watercolor is a privileged artistic form for elementary school children, since it allows them to have emotional experiences with color in a fluctuating medium like water. At these ages, the way they create on paper is not important. The recreation of a specific character or scene is not important. Working with paint on wet paper, where the water disperses the colors and does not allow them to define any shape, can be frustrating for some children who have prematurely developed reasoning and intellect. Watercolor works from the heart, from the soul, from the emotions, from the flow. The intellect fails when it wishes to define some form. The master's proposal starts from the character of each color: the expansive force of red, the irradiation of yellow, the protective envelope of blue ... and tells a story, presents some images. In these images, characters or animals may appear, each with its own character and activity. So, we identify each character or animal with each of the colors, by the similarity with the character of each color. Finally, we paint the colors on the paper, and we also paint the interactions that each one has had in the story. The result is not a more or less faithful representation of the characters in the story, but a mixture of colors that illustrates the emotional force that has taken place in that narrative.

LEARNING COMMUNITY: PLANTING TREES

Last Saturday, November 27th, we celebrated the first meeting of the Learning Community planting trees in community in the forest. These meetings seek to establish links between the community through action, as a way to return to the human network, to collaborate and enrich the project in a family and festive environment. The contribution and donation of trees and shrubs by the families was very numerous. Those that could best adapt to the characteristics of the terrain were chosen, such as oak, pine, murta, laurel, strawberry tree, olive or fruit trees. During the meeting new families could get to know the space where their children play every day at the school, as well as the projects that are being carried out.

THE AUTUMN CELEBRATION

It is November and the light of the long summer days is fading little by little. The leaves of the trees begin to dress in golden colors before detaching and covering the ground in browns, yellows and reds. At this time, when the light from outside begins to weaken, we take shelter in our homes and turn on the light inside. It is at this time that we celebrate the lantern festival as a community, as a symbol of the flame that shines within and the warmth that emanates from our hearts.

MAKING SOURDOUGH

Last year some students from the school planted wheat. This year we have closed the cycle with the making of bread in 4th, 5th and 6th grade of primary school. They have ground wheat grain to extract various types of flour: wholemeal and white. They have made a sourdough starting from scratch from apples and honey, to which we have "fed" flour until it can be used as yeast. They have also learned to knead and shape bread. Sourdough is an exciting journey through three fermentations: alcoholic, lactic and acetic. Each one of them will transmit a unique flavor and aroma to the bread. In addition, the sourdough makes the crumb more moist and the crust tasty and crunchy for longer. Each sourdough has its peculiarities, it is something alive and unrepeatable, and making bread with it is an adventure that sometimes takes you down unexpected paths. Only by knowing your sourdough will you get the bread you want. INTEGRATED MUSIC SCHOOL

"Music is to the soul what the gym is to the body" Plato Since we are in our mother's womb, music is present. When parents want to express affection, they sing and rock their baby, creating an atmosphere of love, protection and beauty. Music is part of us, of our roots, of our ancestors, of our first forms of communication. Music has an unimaginable power to move and transform us. At the same time, music rests on a structure where order reigns, since one of its components is rhythm, which is present in all manifestations of life; when we walk, when we breathe, when our heart beats, when a horse gallops, when the waves crash, ... The rhythm gives us anchorage, security, confidence. In this way, music is woven from an ethereal, subtle, intangible material, and on the other, it is organized and supported in a consistent and structured framework. The two polarities emerge. Hence, at a neuroscientific level, a lot of research has been done in which they show how music impacts both cerebral hemispheres, in our limbic, cognitive and sensory systems. Learning to play an instrument makes all these qualities develop. From the physical and corporal point of view, it involves great coordination and dexterity, for which a strong will is needed to allow us to meet the challenges it proposes to us. On an emotional level, you only need to listen to a melody to realize the profound impact it has on our emotions, on our imagination, how it makes us connect with our listening, with our feelings, making us live a journey to the deepest territories of our being. On a cognitive level, it develops attention, concentration, reasoning ability, order, creativity, ... Playing an instrument is discovering, astonishing yourself, getting lost in unsuspected paths, wanting to climb the highest mountains, is having a friend forever. The School of Integrated Music has the objective of facilitating the access of students to the study of a music instrument during school hours. All students from 4th to 6th grade of Primary School have the possibility of choosing an instrument and practicing individually with a professional musician, in 30-minute weekly slots organized within school hours. The instruments offered are the following: Cello Violin Saxophone Flute Guitar Piano Private instrument classes in after school hours for children from other courses and adults: Private instrument classes are also offered in the afternoon from 3:00 p.m. for children from other courses and adults. Weekly activities outside of school hours that respect the pedagogical vision of the school. Start: October 2021   Storytelling in English "Storytelling" is an ancient art that was born to describe images and transmit messages of wisdom, orally, in a creative and inspiring environment. The workshop is taught in English through stories, putting “listening & understanding” into practice. Children interpret the stories with the work of “speaking & speech” where they learn new vocabulary and practice pronunciation. Within the learning process we develop the performing arts: theater, music and corporal expression. Supported by the pedagogical team of the Fundació Sa Llavor, this training is structured in practical and experiential modules, and is based on the principles of the holistic Sa Llavor pedagogy: Comprehensive development; Freedom and confidence; Connection with life; Community and service to others. Currently, the artistic process that will be presented to the entire Community in 2022 is being carried out with the Foundation team.
